I'm not bothered reading All of this, all I had to read i just the first few posts. The whole idea of removing the gates just seems mad to me. Those star gates and warp drives are the unique feature of EVE Online. Like in other games you might see similar ideas, but not exact. I like the way it works, and I don't want 'Freelancer-like' navigation system in terms of interstellar transportation in EVE. The system we have in EVE is easy and simple, nicely designed and engineered; changing it into something different will destroy the EVE Image - it will become a different game, with a few similar features. I wouldn't mind adding little changes to it that could change it into something completely different after a period of, lets say, 3-5 years, but the system would still have to be working the same way and I don't think that this is what you are actually looking for. So not a good idea if you ask me.
The highway idea seems nice, increase of maneuverability and/or speed on the highly populated routes. Like Jita - Amarr or whatever, I'm not much of a trader.
Oh and the idea of removing the local: Nice move man, trying to destroy PvP in EVE - might have not been your intention, but thats one of the basic ways to identify targets in the system you jump into. It won't happen unless CCP creates a different system or feature working exactly the same as local. EVE isn't all about PvP, but there are many features designed especially for it and much work was put into that. They are not going to just remove local. Removing local chat might be tricky as well, since it helps you get help when you are new and you are not exactly understanding what (lets just assume that) Aura asks you to do in the tutorials. Beside smacking with some random people is sometimes a good idea when you are bored running missions alone and want your head to be occupied by something more than shooting red crosses.
Also about signature lighting up on scanners/radars: On field, in combat, there already are modules that increase your ship radius. Its basically about the 'size' of the sensor waves that your ship sends. Shield rigs, shield extender mods and micro-warp drive modules increase your ship's signature, therefore making you easier to hit. Thought it doesn't show up on scanner as you suggested it should. Adding it to directional/system scanner could be an idea, but I don't see how would it work... It might work with probe scanners - lets say it would increase the probability of you being scanned out by probes? I dunno, thought it might be a fine thing to consider.
All this is just my opinion about Jayson's idea, therefore treat it as such. |
